Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Why choose FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember over another marriage getaway?

A: FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember has been attended by more than 1.2 million couples during the past 34 years. This getaway clearly communicates God’s plan and purpose for bringing different people together in a covenant relationship. Together you will work through the unique threats to your relationship: communication, intimacy, resolving conflict, and leaving a legacy of a healthy marriage. Last year, more than 65,000 people across the country spent one weekend working on their marriages and walked away with a game plan to help their marriages last a lifetime.

Q: Can we bring children?

A: FamilyLife cares deeply about children. However, to keep your weekend free of distractions and as a courtesy to other participants, children (including nursing infants) are not allowed in any session. FamilyLife is unable to provide child care during the getaway.

Q: Will I have to engage in group discussion?

A: There are no group settings in which you would be asked to comment on the getaway content or your relationship.

Q: Will I be required to participate in the projects with my spouse?

A: Completing the projects with your spouse is highly recommended and necessary in order to have the complete getaway experience. We receive many comments from guests who say the projects were the best part of the getaway.

Q: Can singles attend a Weekend to Remember?

A: Yes. In fact, there are two special breakout sessions for pre-marrieds. The getaway will give pre-married couples a clear understanding of what a marriage commitment truly means and is a great foundation to start their marriage.

Q: I have been divorced. Will I feel uncomfortable?

A: We understand that divorce is a reality, and we have designed this getaway with that reality in mind. Our focus is on the condition of your current marriage, rather than creating guilt for mistakes made in the past. We also recognize that even in such an environment, one might feel uncomfortable at times because of past memories and regrets that are stirred up. Our prayer is that you would come excited to make your current marriage a strong, healthy, lasting one, even if it means dealing with some painful memories.

Q: We have a great marriage. Why should we go?

A: Congratulations! This weekend is designed to heighten even the best of marriages. Time and time again we hear of couples with great relationships who have attended the Weekend to Remember and say that it took their marriage to another level of oneness and intimacy. It also serves as a great reminder that you are God’s gift to each other.

Q: We’ve been before; why should we go again?

A: Your marriage and family have changed since you last attended a Weekend to Remember. Come back and enjoy new speakers and fresh insights you may have missed at your first getaway, time to relate to each other on a deeper level, and another exciting date night. You can never investtoo much in the most important relationship on earth ... your marriage.

Q: Do I have to stay in the hotel?

A: Enhance your weekend and free yourself from everyday distractions by staying at the getaway hotel. Treat your- selves to a private room for a more relaxing atmosphere that enables you to focus only on each other. Weekend to Remember guests receive a special discounted room rate.

Q: Are there additional costs associated with the weekend?

A: Your registration fee does not cover accommodations or meals. In addition, there may be parking charges and/or resort fees at the hotel. You may also choose to purchase resources during the weekend.

Q: What if I register and for some reason can’t come? Can I get a refund?

A: If you cannot attend, you have the opportunity to transfer your registration to another getaway or to another couple as a ministry opportunity—at no cost. However, if you arerequesting a refund, the registration fee is refundable minus a $25 per person processing fee. Requests for transfer or refund must be received no later than 7 days after the getaway you are registered to attend. For assistance with registration, cancellation, or a change in plans, call 1-800-FL-TODAY (358-6329).

Q: If we have more than one event in our area, can we register people for various events?

A: Yes. You can give anyone across the country your personal group name. They will receive the group discount rate if they register by at least ONE day prior to their event. Your group name is valid for 12 months from activation.

frequently asked questions

Q: Will I have to engage in group discussion?

A: FamilyLife has not designed the event with any planned group settings in which you would be asked to comment publicly on the event content or your relationship.

Q: Will I be required to participate in the projects with my spouse?

A: This conference was designed so that the projects are an essential part of the event experience. The projects allow you to immediately apply what you’ve experienced in the videos. We recommend that you make the completion of the projects a high priority during the event. We receive many comments from other attendees who say the projects were the best part of the event.

Q: Can singles attend The Art of Marriage?

A: ABSOLUTELY! In fact, we HIGHLY recommend it. The event will give pre-married couples an understanding of what a marriage commitment means and lay a great foundation to start their marriage.

Q: I have been divorced. Will I feel uncomfortable?

A: We understand that divorce is a reality, and we have designed this conference with that reality in mind. We have tried to focus on the condition of your current marriage, rather than creating guilt for mistakes made in the past.

A: Every marriage relationship is in a constant state of movement: you are either growing closer together, or further apart. Unfortunately, it seems that the natural inclination of the human heart is to drift apart over time. Every one needs a tune-up from time to time, no matter how well the marriage might be running. This event is designed to heighten even the best of marriages. It also serves as a great reminder that you are God’s gift to each other.

Q: What if I register and for some reason can’t come? Can I get a refund?

A.  Sorry, we are not able to give refunds.

God in a diaper...

Posted by Steve C on December 23, 2010 @ 3:38 AM

What a joy to know the Creator and King of the Universe left His throne in heaven to be born in a manger, replaced His crown with a diaper, His Royal Robe with human flesh, humbled Himself and became earth's greatest gift...our Savior.  Never has anyone cared so much.  In the midst of all the CHRISTmas hustle and bustle don't forget that Jesus is the true Reason for the Season.  We are so thankful for the incredible family we have at Shore Fellowship.  Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
