Upward at the Shore Basketball and Cheerleading for Kids in Grades 1st through 8th
(Child must be 6 years old by September 1st, 2010)
When: Online registration is open through November 12th. Click here to register. Practices are once a week and begin the week after Thanksgiving. Games are every Saturday during the months of January and February.
What is Upward: Upward is a national sports ministry that was started over 20 years ago and now has over 500,000 kids participating with more and more kids joining every year.
Why Upward: Too often, the focus of youth sports has been on winning and not on the child. Upward believes that Every Child Is a Winner and has created a program that reinforces this. Whether a child is a "seasoned" player or has never touched a basketball or a set of pom poms before, they are treated equally. The goal is to make sure every child knows how important they are to their family, their coaches, their teammates, and to God.
